MONTREAL - A vigil and march to mark the one-year anniversary of a fatal police shooting that sparked a night of rioting in Montreal is taking place today.

The march will wind through the Montreal North neighbourhood before stopping by the spot where police killed 18-year-old Fredy Villanueva.

Two other youths were also wounded in the same shooting.

On Saturday, a series of workshops and a five-hour concert commemorating the event took place without incident.

Community activist Will Prosper says relations between police and local youths are still tense in the low-income neighbourhood and police are on high alert during the two-day event.
