WASHINGTON -- A former U.S. school teacher who authorities say was arrested in Nicaragua on child pornography charges has been ordered to remain in jail without bond.
Eric Justin Toth appeared in court Tuesday in Washington, wearing a blue jail jumpsuit. A judge ordered that he be held without bond until a hearing to be held later. Prosecutors did not disclose any further details on the allegations against Toth during Tuesday's court hearing.
The FBI says a tip led investigators to Toth in Nicaragua, where authorities say the former teacher had been living since October 2012. Police in that country say Toth entered the country with a false passport, and that he had a fake driver's license and credit cards.
Toth had been listed as one of the FBI's top 10 most-wanted fugitives.

Toth taught third grade at Beauvoir, a private elementary school on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral. He was escorted off campus in 2008 after another teacher reported finding sexually explicit photographs on a school camera in Toth's possession.
