NHL fans will get closer to the ice than ever before during the 2015 All-Star Weekend, as the league partners with GoPro to provide player-perspective camera angles during the weekend's marquee events.

During the All-Star Skills Competition and All Star Game, players will wear small, wide-angle GoPro helmet cams that will provide live-feed HD footage to be used in broadcast coverage of the event.

The 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend runs from Jan. 23-25 in Columbus, Ohio.

In a sample video released by GoPro, NHL stars such as Sidney Crosby, Taylor Hall, Tuukka Rask, Jonathan Toews and Henrik Lundqvist go through their paces on the ice, their every move captured by the cameras -- from breakaway scoring attempts to slap shots, defensive maneuvers and body checks.

One angle allows the viewer to see what a goalie faces as he squares off against an offensive opponent.

"I think it will be very interesting for the viewer to see what I see and how I track pucks," said Lundqvist, the New York Rangers' star netminder, in the video.

Players will wear the cameras during the skills competition on Saturday, and GoPro viewpoints are expected to be used during the live broadcast of the All-Star Game on Sunday.

"Together we will push the boundaries of video content production in hockey and provide fans of the sport with unique, immersive perspectives of the game that they've never seen before, from players and officials to in-goal and rink side," said Todd Ballard, GoPro's senior director of lifestyle marketing.
