Army officer dies after collapsing during London Marathon

LONDON -- A British Army officer has died after collapsing three miles short of the London Marathon finish line.

Marathon organizers say Capt. David Seath, an Afghanistan war veteran, was 31.

Seath was running the 42.2-kilometre course on Sunday when he collapsed at the 37-kilometre mark. Marathon organizers say Seath was taken to a hospital by ambulance but he later died.

Seath had been running for the charity Help For Heroes, which raises funds for wounded army members. Friends and colleagues now want to complete the marathon course for him and continue to raise money for his charity.
