It’s been years since Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard, but as news surfaces that he’ll soon be receiving an honorary degree from the Ivy league school, the Facebook founder has shared a video of the moment he learned he got into the prestigious school.
This week, he shared a video on Facebook of him opening his acceptance email to Harvard University.
The video, filmed by his dad, shows Zuckerberg give out a single “Yay” and fist pump as he reads the email that tells him he will join Harvard’s class of 2006.
Zuckerberg’s father was much more animated about his son’s acceptance, yelling “Alright! Yes! Great!” off-camera.
Zuckerberg, who dropped out of university during his sophomore year, will deliver the commencement speech to this year’s graduates on May 25.
"My dad took this video when I got accepted to Harvard," the caption read. "Next week I'm going back for commencement to get my degree. #tbt"
In a comment, Zuckerberg added, "Before I went to college, my mom bet me I'd drop out and my younger sister bet me she'd finish college before me. I bet them I'd get a degree. Now I suppose the cycle is complete."
Zuckerberg has said he will stream his commencement speech live on his Facebook page, adding that the speech may offer insights into why his reaction to getting into the school was so subdued.
