Gen. Jonathan Vance has ordered a second investigation into the events surrounding a military flight in December that resulted in sexual assault charges against former NHL player Tiger Williams.
The new investigation is expected to be broader than the first conducted by the Royal Canadian Air Force soon after the flight, which was part of a tour aimed at boosting the morale of troops posted overseas.
The results of the Air Force investigation were delivered to Vance in February, but have not been made public.
The Department of National Defence says the new investigation will include a review of police reports and evidence as well as interviews with witnesses, which were not part of the Air Force probe.
In the meantime, the Defence Department says a temporary suspension on morale-boosting trips like the one in December remains in place, while alcohol has been permanently banned on military flights.
