INDIAN BROOK, N.S. - RCMP say they have charged a Nova Scotia man with second-degree murder in the death of a toddler last fall.

Police say 29-year-old James Joseph Peter-Paul was arrested Friday at his home in Indian Brook.

He is charged in the October death of three-year-old Matthew James Raymond Peter-Paul of Indian Brook.

Sgt. Brigdit Leger would not say whether the accused and the child were related.

RCMP received a 911 call on Oct. 1 reporting a child in cardiac arrest.

Police say the little boy was taken by ambulance to hospital in Truro and pronounced dead shortly afterward.

The accused is due in Shubenacadie provincial court on Monday.
