TRURO, N.S. - A Nova Scotia man has been charged in connection with the death of a 48-year-old former biker gang member more than a decade ago.

Randy Mersereau was last seen on Oct. 31, 1999.

Mersereau, a former member of the Hells Angels, was alleged to have been involved in a drug war with the gang at the time.

In October, police launched a search of a property in Onslow Mountain near Truro in connection to Mersereau's death.

In a statement today, the RCMP said they arrested Gerald MacCabe of Salmon River, N.S., on Monday.

The 43-year-old has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Officers are still investigating Mersereau's death but say they believe he was a homicide victim.

They are now searching a wooded area on Hiram Lynds Road in Colchester County as part of their investigation.
