SHERWOOD PARK, Alta. - Mounties have located a baby who was in a truck that was stolen Tuesday afternoon in a community east of Edmonton.

RCMP say the 5 1/2 month old baby boy appeared to be in good condition, but emergency paramedics were checking him out as a precaution.

The baby and vehicle were found in Edmonton about three hours after police say the truck with the baby inside was stolen from the parking lot across the street from an elementary school in Sherwood Park, a bedroom community east of Edmonton.

Police issued an Amber Alert and said the baby was in a car seat covered by a blue blanket in a black Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab pickup.

Const. Wally Henry said police weren't sure if the suspect, described as a male in his early teens, was aware there was an infant in the vehicle.

Officials at Westboro elementary school declined to comment on the alleged abduction.

Henry had urged the teen to turn himself in.

"The parents are obviously distraught and just want this brought to a successful conclusion."
