In addition to bringing joy to audiences while on stage or TV, Robin Williams also delighted hundreds of thousands of followers on social media with glimpses into his private life out of the limelight.
On Twitter and Instagram, Williams posted selfies with celebrities, backstage photos from his TV show The Crazy Ones, showed his support for charities, old photos of himself with his children on their birthdays, and lots of images of pugs.
He occasionally took part in #tbt (throw back Thursday), including images from his first major starring role as the weird alien on "Mork & Mindy".
Williams was also well-known for his charity work with organizations such as Comic Relief, the LiveStrong Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and more. Williams, along with Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg, began hosting TV specials to raise money for America's homeless in 1986.
