Canadian nationalists will be pleased to learn that a new adult television station promises that at least 50 per cent of its writhing, glistening performers will be 100 per cent homegrown.

Canada's broadcast regulator has given the go-ahead for a new channel called Northern Peaks -- the country's first adult station with "significant" Canadian content.

Edmonton-based Real Productions will be offering the English-language pay television channel.

The company says it will be "Canada's first adult video channel offering significant Canadian adult content," according to the CRTC decision.

The company's website says they are "a premier adult video production company specializing in unique amateur XXX and swinger videos."

"What makes us unique?"

"Simply, our ability to find lovely women who have never appeared in an adult video in their lives and tape them in fully explicit action with amateur male performers!" the website says.

Real Productions is also promising jobs for "ordinary women" who are interested in some erotic acting. The company says their video performers are made up of "students, housewives, secretaries, trainers -- not porn stars."

The channel isn't a guarantee yet. Before receiving its broadcast licence, Northern Peaks must find one licensed provider to distribute its channel in the next three years.

According to the licence, at least fifty per cent of the day and evening broadcast must be domestic content.

The content must fall under certain categories such as: long-from documentaries, dramatic show, comedy, special, mini-series and movies, among others.

It would also have to close caption all of the stimulating dialogue that adult viewers expect.

The licence expires Aug. 31, 2014.
