HALIFAX -- A decision on a proposed power rate arrangement for an idle paper mill in Cape Breton is expected this morning.

The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board's decision on an application by Pacific West Commercial and Nova Scotia Power is seen as critical by the company to get the shuttered paper mill up and running.

The decision will be posted on the regulator's website.

Pacific West offered to buy the NewPage Port Hawkesbury mill for $33 million and it wants operations to resume next month.

If the power rate arrangement is approved, Pacific West still needs a ruling from the Canada Revenue Agency before the deal is finalized.

Premier Darrell Dexter is also expected to be in Port Hawkesbury today for an unrelated announcement regarding the mill.
