A former Ontario nurse accused of killing eight seniors made a brief court appearance in Woodstock, Ont. on Friday.
Elizabeth Wettlaufer, 49, is scheduled to appear in court via video link on May 12.
No trial date has been set in the case.
Relatives of the alleged victims weren’t happy with how the case is unfolding.
“I’m being dragged out,” said Susan Horvath, whose father Arpad is among the alleged victims. “Everybody is being dragged out now. We’re not happy, we’re very angry now. Tired because our life is really affected by all of this. We can’t live a normal life.”
Laura Jackson, a close friend of alleged victim Mo Granat, was angry with Wettlaufer’s demeanour.
“She had a smug look on her face, like she didn’t care,” Jackson told CTV Toronto.
Wettlaufer waived her right to a preliminary hearing during her last court appearance earlier this month.
In October, Wettlaufer was charged with eight counts of first-degree murder.
She was also charged with an additional four counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault in January.
Police allege Wettlaufer fatally injected drugs into seniors in her care at nursing homes in Woodstock and London, Ont.
