A 28-year-old Toronto man is offering one lucky Canadian free plane tickets to fly "around the world." The only caveat is that the interested traveller must be named Elizabeth Gallagher.

Earlier this March, Redditor Jordan Axani and his then-girlfriend booked a "fairly wicked trip around the world for … Christmas," a weekend posting on the user-generated site explained. The couple has since gone their separate ways, but Axani says he still plans on taking the trip. His ex, Elizabeth Gallagher, will not.

Instead of cancelling the tickets or attempting to change the name on the tickets, Axani turned to Reddit in hopes of giving them away. He says the tickets were purchased during a "massive blow-up" sale and that it would not be "worth the headache or money to cancel" them.

Women named Elizabeth Gallagher who are interested in taking a free trip this December are being asked to message Axani on Reddit.

Axani told CTV News that many Elizabeth Gallaghers have already come forward since he posted the ad on Sunday.

"Among those, I'm sure we'll find someone that will enjoy the trip who also perhaps isn't able to see these countries otherwise," Axani said in an email, declining an on-air interview.

The nearly three-week trip departs from New York City on Dec. 21 and returns to Toronto on Jan. 8, 2015. The trip includes stops in Prague, Paris, Bangkok and New Delhi.

"I am not looking for companionship, romance, drugs, a trade, or to take selfies with you in front the Christmas Market in Prague," he wrote in the ad. "Really, the only thing I ask for is that you enjoy this trip and that it brings you happiness."

The trip is free, but he added that if the other person would like to toss him a "couple hundred bucks, great."

Axani also said that he is not necessarily looking for a travel partner. Although he wrote it would be nice to share the experience with someone, he is open to giving the tickets to an Elizabeth Gallagher who would rather plan their own vacation.

He described himself as a down-to-earth type person, who is "friendly, trustworthy, full of good stories."

In addition to the name requirement, Axani said the interested traveller must:

  • Have a Canadian passport;
  • Be "sane, smart and (hopefully) interesting";
  • Have always had a desire to travel, but lacked the funds or opportunity to do so;
  • Be willing to pay-it-forward one day. "I’ve been lucky in life and this is me giving back to the universe," he says. "Do something similar someday."

This is not the first time a free trip has been offered on Reddit.

In September, an Australian woman also turned to the site in hopes of finding a travel partner named Andrew Grant.

The woman, Aurore Lassus, and her then-boyfriend had booked a trip across Europe. But after the couple split, Lassus was left with a fully booked trip, but no one to travel with.
