All eyes will be on the starlets of Hollywood and their designer gowns on Oscars night, but if you want to brush up on your fashion knowledge beforehand then a new infographic should help.

Featuring over 150 illustrations of the dresses worn to the Oscars since 1929, the tool lets you filter by actress, decade, designer and colour to get a comprehensive overview of Hollywood fashion through the ages.

A smaller version of the idea went viral last year with a depiction of the gowns worn by every Best Actress Winner since 1929, and the concept has been updated and extended just in time for this year's Academy Awards.

Some of the gorgeous designs portrayed include the silver Irene Gibbons design worn by Vivien Leigh in 1940, Grace Kelly's 1955 mint Edith Head creation and Elizabeth Taylor's 1961 Christian Dior masterpiece.

The brainchild of marketing agency Big Group, the infographic deftly demonstrates how styles have changed over the decades, moving from classically elegant to extravagant designs.
