Michael Douglas' ex-wife had her lawsuit against the actor thrown out of court.
Diandra Luker - who divorced the 66-year-old star in 2000 - had demanded 40 per cent of the money Michael earned from his last movie, 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps', but Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper ruled New York was not the correct venue for the action as the couple originally divorced in California.
Michael's lawyer Marilyn Chinitz said: "He's thrilled. This is the right decision. This action should have never been brought in the first place."
After the couple divorced, they agreed a settlement which allowed Diandra to receive a share of the money he made from his movies while they were together - so far earning her $6.3 million - but she claimed she should receive money from 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' as it revived the character Gordon Gecko, who Michael played in the original 'Wall Street' in 1987.
Although Judge Cooper ruled against the lawsuit made by Michael's ex-wife, he did not rule on the merits of the case, leaving Diandra the options of appealing or re-launching the suit in California.
Her lawyer Nancy Chemtob said: "We respectfully disagree with the decision, and intend to appeal. Both parties are residents of New York, and the case should be decided here."
Michael - who is currently battling throat cancer - has children Dylan, 10, and seven-year-old Carys with current wife Catherine Zeta Jones, as well as 31-year-old Cameron with Diandra.
