SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The wife of a former Winnipeg executive who was slain in Puerto Rico is being asked to produce her medical records.

Defence lawyers for the man charged in Adam Anhang's death say they hope to learn what Anhang's wife, Aurea Vazquez Rijos, told medical personnel about the September 2005 attack.

Police say Vazquez Rijos, who is not believed to be in Puerto Rico, was treated for head injuries, but later declined to co-operate with investigators.

Jonathan Roman has pleaded not guilty to a charge of first degree murder.

Roman worked as a dishwasher at a San Juan restaurant that Anhang had purchased for his wife.

The judge has scheduled another hearing for February 14th.

Anhang and Vazquez Rijos were in the midst of divorce proceedings at the time of his death.

She has sued Anhang's parents for money she claims she was due under the couple's prenuptial agreement.

Anhang's parents, in turn, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Vazquez and her siblings, accusing them of looting their son's estate.
