VANCOUVER - Vancouver Police have named the victim of the city's latest homicide.

Twenty-nine-year-old Axel Curtis died Sunday morning after he was gunned down just steps from his apartment building in Vancouver's busy Fairview neighbourhood.

Police say Curtis is known to them and is suspected of gang links.

They say the incident was targeted.

Numerous people saw the shooting and several report a lone gunman ran from the scene, but police say they are still interviewing witnesses and want to develop an accurate description before releasing further details.

The attack is Vancouver's 13th homicide of 2011.
