Wingham & District Hospital declares COVID-19 outbreak, new visitor rules in effect

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in the inpatient unit of Wingham’s hospital, prompting new visitor rules and restrictions.

According to a social media post, a COVID-19 outbreak was declared within the inpatient unit at the Wingham & District Hospital on Friday.

The hospital says visitation will be limited to essential visitors only.

Rules for visitors include:

• One essential visitor per patient only
• Check in with nursing staff before entering
• PPE required (will be provided)

“These temporary visiting restrictions are in place to protect patients, visitors, and staff,” the hospital said.

The hospital asks people to not visit if they are sick or have symptoms.
