Southern Ontario is set to experience unseasonably warm temperatures this week, with daytime highs climbing into the upper teens and low 20s, according to CTV News London meteorologist Julie Atchison. Atchison said mild conditions will persist through much of the week, with overnight temperatures remaining relatively warm and daytime highs ranging from 18 C to 21 C in many areas. “We’re taking a run at some records over the next couple of days with temperatures in the upper teens and low 20s,” Atchison said. A low-pressure system is expected to influence the region’s weather pattern, drawing moisture northward and bringing periodic chances of light showers. Atchison said there is about a 40 per cent chance of scattered showers Monday evening into early Tuesday morning. Any rainfall that develops is expected to be light and spotty. Cloud cover is forecast to clear Tuesday afternoon, giving way to a mix of sun and cloud. “Tuesday is going to be gorgeous,” Atchison said, noting temperatures are expected to reach between 20 C and 21 C across much of southern Ontario, with Windsor forecast to be the warm spot at 22 C. Another 40 per cent chance of showers is forecast for Wednesday, although temperatures are expected to remain near 21 C. Highs are expected to cool slightly to around 16 C on Thursday, which also carries a chance of showers. The warm spell is expected to come to an end by the weekend as cooler air moves into the region. Temperatures are forecast to fall to about 8 C on Saturday, accompanied by a 40 per cent chance of rain. Sunday is expected to bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high near 8 C.
