Warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine are expected across southwestern Ontario this weekend, with only a slight chance of showers late Saturday into Sunday, says meteorologist Gary Archibald. A ridge of high pressure is keeping conditions clear and calm across the region, with temperatures expected to remain above the seasonal average. “Our average high for this time of year is 22 degrees,” Archibald said. “We’re looking at 25 this afternoon.” Overnight lows are expected to fall to around 11 C to 13 C, reflecting the gradual seasonal cooldown as summer winds down. Clouds are forecast to increase Saturday as moisture moves in from the southwest, bringing a chance of light, scattered showers Saturday night. “It’s very sporadic and very light at this juncture,” Archibald said. Looking ahead, temperatures next week are expected to fluctuate between 20 C and 25 C, with periods of cloud cover and showers, particularly from Tuesday onward. For now, Archibald said the weather should remain favourable for outdoor activities through much of the weekend.
