A weak cold front moving across southern Ontario is expected to bring scattered showers and the chance of a thunderstorm Wednesday morning before cooler air settles into the region, according to CTV News London meteorologist Julie Atchison. Atchison said the day will begin under mainly cloudy skies, with a few scattered showers and the possibility of a thunderstorm through the morning hours. “A weak cold front is making the move across southern Ontario as we head into the afternoon,” Atchison said. Cloudy conditions are expected to persist for much of the day, although there could be a few breaks of sunshine. Winds will shift to the northwest as temperatures cool significantly from Tuesday’s levels. Atchison said afternoon highs will reach about 17 C, roughly 10 degrees cooler than the previous day, but still above seasonal norms. There remains a 40 per cent chance of showers throughout the day. Looking ahead, Atchison said a more unsettled stretch of weather is on the way later this week. Thursday is expected to remain mainly cloudy before rain arrives Thursday night. The rain is forecast to continue into Friday, accompanied by gusty winds. The weekend is shaping up to be considerably brighter, with abundant sunshine expected Saturday and Sunday. However, temperatures will trend lower, particularly overnight. Atchison said lows are expected to fall to between 1 C and 2 C in some areas, creating the potential for frost in parts of southern Ontario.
