No overnight parking in London tonight, as city braces for snowfall event

A big storm has London hunkering down for the winter cleanup that will follow.

An overnight parking ban has been issued for London city streets ahead of an anticipated winter storm set to roll in to the region Wednesday evening.

Residents registered for overnight street parking are asked not to park on city streets overnight on Wednesday to allow crews to properly clean the snow off of the roads.

People with registered overnight parking passes will be contacted to confirm that the ban is in place, and applications for overnight parking will be suspended until the ban is lifted.

In the meantime, daytime street parking is still permitted.

Current forecast models show that the city is likely to receive roughly 20 cm of snow, and Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for London, as well as much of southern Ontario.

Side streets may take longer to clean as high-traffic routes are given priority. Some of the first roads to be cleaned will be Highbury Avenue, Wellington Road, Exeter Road, and Fanshawe Park Road, followed by Southdale Road, Oxford Street, Dundas Street and Wharncliffe Road.
