Mayor Josh Morgan is praising the actions of a Good Samaritan who found his wallet on Dundas Street and returned it to City Hall. On Monday, Morgan was on his way to a radio interview in downtown London, Ont., when he set his wallet on his lap as he paid for parking with his cellphone. He believes the wallet fell off his lap when he got out of his car. It wasn’t until after the interview that he realized his wallet was missing, including his money, identification, and secure access cards. But a Good Samaritan had already come to the rescue. “By the time I got back to City Hall, a member of the public had picked up the wallet, realized it was mine because of the business card that was in it, and returned to the city hall with everything intact,” Morgan told a crowd of Londoners attending the menorah lighting outside City Hall. “Good deeds can be that light for each and every one of us to carry forward,” Morgan added, “There are hundreds of thousands of wonderful people in the city, all doing good things, all making someone else’s life a little bit better.” The Good Samaritan left the mayor’s wallet at City Hall — but didn’t leave their name. “I have no idea who it is. So let me say to them, thank you very much for being a wonderful beacon of light in our city,” Morgan said. Update After seeing the story on CTV News, the man who returned the wallet reached out to Morgan and the mayor will be taking him to lunch in the new year.
