A 45-year-old St. Thomas man has been arrested on reasonable grounds for the recent break-and-enter and theft of a safe from RONA. The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) says a joint effort between frontline officers, property crime and their CIRT team lead to the arrest and multiple charges. Those charges include break and enter to commit indictable offence, wear disguise with intent, and mischief. On Wednesday, CTV News learned a person entered the store through a hatch in the roof and made their way down to the office. They left out the back door of the store with a safe and did not close the hatch of the roof which lead to serious water damage from a heavy storm. In a news release Saturday, the STPS revealed a search incident to arrest the male had cocaine on his person and was further charged with possession of a controlled substance. A search warrant was further conducted at the residence where the male had been staying with evidence being seized as well as a large quantity of oxycodone, 55.4 grams of cocaine, and 21.8 grams of fentanyl. Total value of drugs seized was estimated at $5,690. More charges are pending.
