London Lightning won’t hit the court this season

After a 14 year run, the London Lightning have announced they will not play this season.

London’s basketball team won’t be returning for the 2025 - 2026 season.

The decision was announced Friday, with team officials citing league level instability and the number of teams committed to play as reasons for opting out.

Marking the end of 14 years and seven championships, the London Lightning thanked the community in a news release for “their unwavering support over the past 14 years.”

The team may still be open to playing in the future.
