A 49-year-old Mississauga man is facing a string of drug and firearms charges after Sarnia police seized cocaine, methamphetamine and a loaded handgun during a search of a property on London Line. The Sarnia Police Service says members of its drug unit, with assistance from the intelligence unit and emergency response team, used a search warrant Tuesday at a location in the 1700 block of London Line. During the search, officers seized approximately 176 grams of methamphetamine, 54 grams of cocaine, more than $1,100 in cash and a loaded Taurus 9 mm handgun with additional ammunition. Police estimate the street value of the drugs at about $16,000. Investigators allege the accused was under a lifetime firearms prohibition at the time of the arrest. A 49-year-old man from Mississauga has been charged with multiple firearms and drug offences, including possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm and ammunition while prohibited, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine. Investigators noted this is the second handgun seized from an alleged Greater Toronto Area-based drug trafficker operating in Sarnia within the last three months.
