The Huron Perth Children’s Aid Society is receiving $831,000 from the Ontario government for roof replacement and repairs. The funding comes through the provincial government’s Partner Facility Renewal program, which is providing more than $25 million this year for critical infrastructure repairs at community service organizations. “I appreciate the important work the Huron Perth Children’s Aid Society does every day to support children and families in our communities,” Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae said in Monday’s announcement. “This provincial investment will support the physical space they need to continue delivering that support and serving local families.” Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson said the Huron-Perth Children’s Aid Society plays an important role across the community. “This investment will help provide the organization with a safe, reliable and welcoming space to continue its important work,” Thompson said. The provincial funding program also supports shelters, residences for people with developmental disabilities, facilities serving survivors of human trafficking and organizations supporting Indigenous communities, among others. Children, Community and Social Services Minister Michael Parsa said community organizations play an important role in delivering services across Ontario. “Through these investments, our government is supporting hundreds of agencies so they can continue providing children, youth and families with the tools and support they need,” Parsa said. Kristian Wilson, executive director of the Huron Perth Children’s Aid Society, said the organization is grateful for the investment. “We are deeply grateful for this investment in our building and in the children, youth, and families we serve. Spaces matter,” Wilson said. The funding will help ensure the society’s facility remains a safe and welcoming place for members of the community accessing its services.
