A frost advisory has been issued for parts of southwestern Ontario as temperatures are expected to drop near the freezing mark overnight, according to CTV meteorologist Julie Atchison. After a cool start to the week, Atchison said a northwest wind kept temperatures feeling brisk Monday afternoon, with readings ranging from 11 C to 16 C across the region. Skies are expected to clear overnight as high pressure moves into the area, allowing temperatures to fall to between 0 C and 2 C by early Tuesday morning. “The coldest temperatures are likely to occur just before sunrise, with a couple of hours of frosty conditions expected in some areas,” Atchison said. The frost advisory covers Essex County, Chatham-Kent, Lambton County and the Sarnia area. While temperatures in Windsor are expected to remain just above the freezing mark, Atchison said patchy frost could still develop in outlying rural locations. Residents with sensitive outdoor plants are being encouraged to take precautions overnight, including covering vegetation vulnerable to frost damage. The chilly start is not expected to last long. Atchison said temperatures will rebound Tuesday under mainly sunny skies, reaching a high of 18 C. Even warmer weather is expected Wednesday, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high near 23 C. Sunshine is also forecast to continue into Thursday, when temperatures are expected to reach 19 C. “We are in for a nice stretch of sunshine over the next few days,” Atchison said. “It’s shaping up to be a beautiful week across southern Ontario.”
