Firefighters with the Saugeen First Nation Fire Department were called out to a small wildfire along the Saugeen River on Tuesday night. Around 8:40 p.m., they responded to a bush and grass fire about 200 metres in length. With no buildings or structures nearby, once they got the fire under control they conducted a controlled burn. No one was injured, and no structures were damaged in the blaze. Fire officials are reminding people to avoid careless disposing of cigarettes, as warmer dryer weather arrives.
