Fashion, Family, and 40 Years: Hangar9 Marks Milestone Anniversary

Female-led London fashion boutique and shopping destination Hangar 9 celebrates 40 years of successful business. CTV London’s Lauren Stallone reports.

Jo-Anne Fisher, founder of Hangar9, said her parents inspired her passion for fashion.

“We came from a farm in St. Thomas, but my mom and dad were very fashionable people,” Fisher recalled.

What began with dressing up for church on Sundays grew into something much bigger. In the 1980s, Fisher opened a luxury women’s boutique that has since grown into Hangar9, now celebrating its 40th anniversary.

“I come to work every day, I love what I do, I love my customers, I love dressing women, and it never feels like work,” Fisher said.

For four decades, she’s made it her mission to help women feel confident through style. “You just feel so much better if you’re dressed right,” she added.

Today, Fisher runs the boutique alongside her three daughters.

“It’s amazing that we all get to work together,” said Lisa Ferguson, Fisher’s daughter, and co-owner. “We all have the same vision for the business, and we all bring something different to the table.”

To celebrate the milestone, Hangar9 has launched a retrospective installation featuring fashion, awards, and memories from over the years.

“What we did is created a museum, the clothing, the awards, the pictures, including pieces from Canadian designers we used to carry,” Ferguson explained.

From chic blazers to everyday denim, the racks at Hangar9 tell the story of how women’s fashion has evolved. For the Fisher family, one goal has always remained the same: helping women look and feel their best.

“When women love how they look, they have a better day,” Ferguson said.
