Fanshawe College is offering all full-time employees voluntary exit incentives amid plunging enrolment numbers. The news was delivered to staff in an email from college president Peter Devlin. “Our efforts to reduce our workforce have not fully reached our goal and as a result we will be taking additional measures to ensure long-term stability,” Devlin said in an email. “To support this effort, we are offering all full-time employees a voluntary exit incentive.” It comes as the school faces a $72 million deficit over the next two years. The federal government capped the number of international students allowed in Canada, which has resulted in an approximately 50 per cent decline for Fanshawe. Earlier this year the school slashed 40 programs and eliminated 35 per cent of its workforce or almost 400 jobs. “I continue to advocate for increased funding for the sector, and as always, I remain inspired by your teamwork and dedication to supporting each other and driving student success,” Devlin said.
