Citing a decline in international enrolment and financial constraints, Fanshawe College will be closing its London South Campus later this year. In a statement from the college, all academic programs currently offered at Fanshawe’s London South Campus will be re-located to the college’s London Campus, located at 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd. or the Simcoe/Norfolk Regional Campus. The change is effective Sept. 1, 2026. Fanshawe says it is undergoing a “significant transition,” and due to “unprecedented” financial constraints the college is taking “difficult but necessary steps” to address a significant deficit caused by a decline in international student enrolment. The college says it has monitored non-essential spending and reviewed its leased space portfolio, and when combined with a further 52.9 per cent reduction in international students for the fall 2025 semester, keeping the London South campus was no longer financially feasible. The following academic programs will be impacted: “The college remains committed to ensuring impacted students, whose program continues into the summer semester and beyond, will have the opportunity to complete their program with the same quality of education and support they expected when choosing to study at Fanshawe,” said Silvana Macdonald, dean of business and hospitality. The college says no decisions have been made about what positions will be impacted, and say staff directly connected to London South have been personally informed by leadership. “Fanshawe is committed to thoughtfully supporting impacted employees during this transition,” the college said. “These conversations are being held with care and respect. More information will be shared with those employees as soon as possible.” Fanshawe opened the London South campus in September 2019 to accommodate the growth of international enrolments. The college says more details about revised timetables and locations will be shared closer to the fall 2026 semester.
