The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) is reminding you to be very cautious around any bodies of water, rivers, streams, or ditches. You are also reminded to stay out of flooded areas. Due to the thawing process currently taking place, watercourses will run high through the weekend and will create a hazard. “The recent warm temperatures and rain melted some of the snowpack in the watershed,” said the UTRCA in a news release. “The resulting runoff elevated streams and rivers, which have spilled into flood plains and low-lying parkland.” Stream banks are slippery and could be snow covered. Any ice that is still on the water is not stable. Another influx of water is expected next week as warm temperatures melt the rest of the snow.
