Arson charges laid in The Hub on the Docks restaurant fire

Huron County OPP have laid arson charges in connection with a Bayfield restaurant fire dating back to 2023.

The fire took place on Oct. 17, 2023, at The Hub on the Docks restaurant on Highway 21.

Fire crews arrived on scene, extinguishing the fire, but an investigation was launched after the fire was deemed an arson. Damage was an estimated $1.2 million, but no injuries were reported.

On Wednesday, OPP took a Stratford woman into custody without incident.

The 63-year-old woman is facing the following charges:

• Three counts of break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
• Three counts of arson – damage to property
• Three counts of possession of incendiary material

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20.
