Celebrating 125 years of live theatre on Spriet Stage, the Grand Theatre has released its schedule of musicals, plays and performances for the upcoming 2026/2027 season. According to a news release, the new season, dubbed ‘All in Grand Time,’ will feature four plays, two musicals, five rock concerts and a live comedy series. “One of the joys of the theatre is its ability to play with time. Every one of our London made productions is undeniably a race to opening night. But also, the stories told on stage give audiences the unique opportunity to stop the clock on certain moments, sprint through others, and to sit – fully present – within the present,” said Grand Theatre Artistic Director Rachel Peake. Peake says audiences will be transported to 1640, 1897, the late 1940s, 1959, 1979, and will even travel forward to the spring of 2035. The season will kick off with the off-Broadway and the West End’s Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors. Described as a “fast-paced, gender bending, quick-changing, farce with fangs guaranteed to quicken your pulse in between screams of laughter,” the show will run from Oct. 20 to Nov. 7, 2026. Just in time for the holidays, a new musical take on a A Christmas Carol will hit the stage. Set in a late-1940s department store and featuring everyone’s seasonal favourite songs, Peake says the Canadian adaptation is “heartwarming, it’s nostalgic, it’s the holidays. It calls on us to do good in the world.” The show will run from Nov. 24 to Dec. 27, 2026. Eerie eco-thriller cicadas will hit the Grand in the New Year. Taking place in the year 2035, the show focuses on the disappearance of a young girl that leads to the discovery of an old and mysterious house that appears to be sinking into the ground. The show runs from Jan. 19 to Feb. 6, 2027. Described as a “love letter to mid-century New York City, the golden age of Broadway, and all things West Side Story,” Somewhere will take the stage next. Peake says the play “stole” her heart, and adds “it’s about dreaming, it’s about family, it’s about immigration.” The play runs from Feb. 23 to March 13, 2027. “It is absolutely a love letter to dance, an homage to Broadway, with a complex and beautiful message about art and the world we live in,” she said. To take audiences into the warmth of spring, Cyrano de Bergerac, loosely based on the real life of the infamous 17th-century novelist and playwright, the costume period drama features sword fighting, poetry, romance, and conflict “all written in lively rhyming couplets,” and runs from March 30 to April 17, 2027. The final show to hit the stage will be a musical based on the hit 1980 film, 9 to 5, featuring lyrics from the Queen of Country Dolly Parton. The office revenge plot gone wrong “will bring the house down and send us off to summer singing with the top down.” The musical runs from May 4 to 22, 2027. “In an age when life can often feel difficult, stepping into another time can be a way to take some space, find freedom, and go on a welcome adventure,” said Peake. “And yet, every show in this season has been chosen for what it has to say about right here, right now, about our lives and the present day.” In addition, the Grand will also feature its Jeans ‘N Classics rock symphony concert series, featuring songs from Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, The Beatles, Queen, Nirvana and Alanis Morissette, just to name a few. Also included is Grand Laughs, a new comedy series that will bring top-name stand up comedians and improv to London all season long.
