An 18-year-old from Perth County, Ont., is still reveling in his good fortune after winning $900,000 while spinning the Bigger Spin prize wheel in Toronto late last month. According to a news release from OLG, Cash Goodyer of Monkton, Ont., recently won $900,000 with the Bigger Spin instant game. The 18-year-old skilled trades worker says he’s purchased a few lottery tickets since turning 18 as he was inspired by other big winners and hoped to experience that excitement for himself. “I saw videos of Bigger Spin events on Instagram and that’s why I started buying tickets for this game,” he said while at the OLG Prize Centre, preparing for his Bigger Spin event. Cash says he knew he won an in-store spin on his ticket and was expecting a small win of $10 or $20, but that’s when his luck changed. “When the store clerk started freaking out, I had no idea what was happening. They told me someone from OLG was going to call me, and I couldn’t believe it,” he recalled. It wasn’t until Cash began calling family and friends to relay the exciting news that the reality started to hit him. “That helped me believe it was real,” he explained. “I couldn’t sleep last night — I was so excited to be coming here!” While preparing to spin the Big Spin prize wheel in Toronto on Oct. 28, Cash revealed he was named after music legend Johnny Cash and “proudly” wore a Johnny Cash T-shirt for his big moment. He says stepping up to the Big Spin prize wheel felt like being on a game show. “The wheel was heavier than I thought it would be,” he said. “When it lingered on $500,000, I held my breath. I heard the cheers in the crowd and watched the wheel shift to $900,000. I was shocked! What an incredible moment!” Cash says that he is grateful he got to share this experience with his family. “What an amazing day,” he said. “I feel awesome. This win is a chance for me to have an incredible head start at this time in my life.” So, what does Cash plan to do with newfound wealth? Cash plans to invest, purchase a home, and perhaps treat himself to some outdoor toys or a fun trip.
