MONTREAL - Former Norbourg president Vincent Lacroix says immaturity and excessive alcohol consumption played a role in his problems with the investment company.

In his final arguments in a Montreal courtroom Friday, Lacroix said he and other Norbourg employees had alcohol problems.

Lacroix was convicted in Quebec court on Tuesday of all of the 51 charges he faced for violating provincial securities laws.

He will be sentenced on Jan. 28.

Testimony at his 49-day trial revealed he made more than 130 irregular withdrawals worth $115 million from investment funds Norbourg controlled.

Lacroix apologized Friday and said he did not make the withdrawals to make himself richer.

But he gave no other explanations for taking the money.
