The outstanding model of 2014 has to be Cara Delevingne who branched out this year into both acting and designing, but still somehow managed to find time for an impressive tally of fashion campaigns and shows.

The 21-year-old London-born model was one of 2014's most recognizable faces, both in the world of fashion and luxury and branching out into wider pop-culture. Over the past few years she's risen to fame, known as much for her occasional wild child antics and bold eyebrow look, as for her success in the modeling industry.

In 2014 Cara continued her role as the face of British stalwarts Topshop, Burberry and Mulberry, and also fronted campaigns for Balmain, YSL Beauty and La Perla. Outside of her modeling duties, she dipped a toe into the design world, working on a capsule collection for American brand DKNY (and casting the campaign via Instagram).

Now she's worked with man-of-the-moment Pharrell Williams, starring alongside the singer in a new Lagerfeld-directed short for Chanel, and dueting with him on the soundtrack. As if all that wasn't enough, she added to her acting CV with roles in Michael Winterbottom's "The Face of an Angel" and Chris Foggin's "Kids in Love." Expect things to continue to blow up for the model next year.

Runner-up: Binx Walton

The most 'fashion' choice for the top spot out there, this was the year that the teenage Tennessean broke through into the industry's A-list. Binx costarred with Cara in a Chanel advert this year, and was also snapped for major campaigns for Balmain and Céline. She also walked in 43 shows during the Spring/Summer 2015 catwalk month.

Third place: Andreja Pejić

This year, Andreja Pejić reemerged on the fashion scene following her gender reassignment surgery. She's not the first transgender model on the scene, but like Lea T, she's one of the first to transition in the public eye, having walked in both men's and women's shows for a number of seasons. Pejić is also now making a documentary on her story, so expect to see plenty more of her in 2015.
