WINNIPEG - A Manitoba man who spent 14 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit.

Lawyers for Kyle Unger have filed a lawsuit that says Unger was deprived of his youth, his education and a normal working life.

Unger was convicted of mutilating and killing a teenage girl at a rock concert south of Winnipeg in 1990.

But the conviction was later quashed and he was formally acquitted in 2009 after DNA tests showed the physical evidence used to convict him was faulty.

Unger's lawsuit alleges the RCMP and prosecutors used improper investigative techniques and hair analysis to link him to the girl's death.

The lawsuit contains claims which have not been proven in court, and the defendants haven't filed statements of defence.
