City of Guelph to take over water billing in June

The City of Guelph will assume responsibility for water billing starting in June, following a decision by Alectra Utilities to discontinue the service.

Residents will begin receiving separate bills: one from Alectra for electricity and another from the city for water services.

City officials said the transition will not affect water rates, which will remain consistent with those introduced earlier this year.

Customers will receive a new account number with their first city-issued bill in June, allowing them to set up online profiles and payment options. Preauthorized payment registration is already available.

The city plans to provide additional information through mailings in April and May and maintain updates on its website. Residents can also contact city services directly for assistance.
