The Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks curling teams have lived up to their name. Laurier’s Men’s and Women’s teams both secured a gold medal at the 2025 U Sports Curling Championships on Friday in Alberta. According to U Sports Canada, this is the fourth time in history a program has managed to complete ‘the double gold.’ The university said this is the second time their teams have pulled off the feat. The first time was during the 2007/2008 season. The women’s team was undefeated throughout the course of the tournament and beat McMaster University 5-4 in the final to take their fifth title. Meanwhile, the men took down Carleton University 7 – 4 to earn their gold medal.
