Wilfrid Laurier University curling teams golden at U Sports championships

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks' curling teams soared in Alberta.

The Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks curling teams have lived up to their name.

Laurier’s Men’s and Women’s teams both secured a gold medal at the 2025 U Sports Curling Championships on Friday in Alberta.

According to U Sports Canada, this is the fourth time in history a program has managed to complete ‘the double gold.’

The university said this is the second time their teams have pulled off the feat. The first time was during the 2007/2008 season.

The women’s team was undefeated throughout the course of the tournament and beat McMaster University 5-4 in the final to take their fifth title.

Meanwhile, the men took down Carleton University 7 – 4 to earn their gold medal.
