Tickets are now available for Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. “Canada’s Greatest Bavarian Festival” will run from Friday, Sept. 25 to Saturday, Oct. 17 at venues across Waterloo Region, including Hubertushaus in Mannheim, the Alpine Club in Kitchener, the Schwaben Club in Breslau and Concordia Club in Kitchener. Organizers said additional events will be announced in the coming weeks. Ticket sales opened at 10 a.m. Thursday and, if past years are any indication, they sell out quickly. Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest officially gets underway on Friday, Oct. 9, ahead of Thanksgiving Day weekend, with a big party at Kitchener City Hall. It begins with a keg tapping, followed by performances from Walter “Polka King” Ostanek and the Weiss Blau Band. There will also be buskers, a biergarten and family-friendly entertainment. Bran Van 3000 and Bif Naked will take centre stage on Friday, while Lee Aaron will perform on Saturday, Oct. 10. Oktoberfest fun, however, isn’t limited to the fall. The public is invited to take part in a chicken dance celebration at the St. Jacob Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. until noon.
