TSN is reporting that Taylor Elgersma, Wilfrid Laurier University’s star quarterback, is expected to be offered a contract by the NFL’s Green Bay Packers. The London, Ont. native attended a mini camp with the Packers last weekend and received rave reviews from head coach Matt Lafleur. “He’s got a live arm, so there’s a lot to like about him,” Lafleur told the media after day one. In a video taken inside the facility, Elgersma was seen working with the coach through drills and progressions. TSN’s Dave Naylor heard from NFL sources that the Packers were going to offer Elgersma a contract. In the meantime, the quarterback was set to take part in the Buffalo Bills mini camp starting on Thursday. While Elgersma was disappointed not to hear his name called out during the NFL draft, he had 14 offers to attend rookie camps as a free agent. He narrowed it down to two – the Packers and the Bills. Last week, Elgersma was selected 18th overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL draft. He previously said if he didn’t get offers from Green Bay or Buffalo, he would go to Winnipeg.
