Waterloo Regional Police have identified a man wanted in connection to a Kitchener shooting, who they say may be armed and dangerous. On Thursday, they released two images of 30-year-old Siraj Abukar. Police said he’s wanted on an outstanding warrant related to the shooting of a 30-year-old Kitchener man on Jan. 28. Officers found the victim with non-life-threatening injuries, around 9 p.m., in the area of Scott Street and King Street East. Two search warrants were then carried out at a Kitchener address on Feb. 10. A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and robbery with a firearm. A second man was also taken into custody. The 28-year-old was charged with careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order, discharging a firearm with intent, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and robbery with a firearm. Abukar’s outstanding charges include assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and robbery with a firearm. “Mr. Abukar is considered armed and dangerous,” a media release said. “If seen, please do not approach him but call 9-1-1 immediately.” Anyone with information on this incident, or Abukar’s whereabouts, is asked to call the Waterloo Regional Police at 519-570-9777, extension 4496.
