The Kitchener Rangers have announced defenceman Cameron Reid as the team’s captain for the 2025–26 Ontario Hockey League season. Reid, 18, from Aylmer, Ont., is entering his third year with the Rangers after being selected 10th overall in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. He has played 116 regular-season games, collecting 77 points (16 goals, 61 assists). His production more than doubled last season, jumping from 23 points in his rookie year to 54. The Nashville Predators selected Reid 21st overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. “It’s the biggest honour,” Reid said in a team release. “Just to be a leader of the team and especially an historic franchise like Kitchener. It’s an exciting year and we have a great group.” The Rangers also named Carson Campbell, Jakub Chromiak, Luke Ellinas and Luca Romano as alternate captains. Campbell and Ellinas will wear the “A” throughout the season, while Chromiak and Romano will rotate. Head coach Jussi Ahokas said the leadership group reflects the team’s values both on and off the ice. The Rangers return to home ice on Friday against the Owen Sound Attack for Oktoberfest. The game will also feature the Onkel Hans Food Drive in support of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
