A 27-year-old Kitchener man has been charged after Waterloo Regional Police say they seized suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine during an investigation on Duke Street West. Police said officers arrested the man at about 10:20 a.m. on Thursday after observing him openly smoking from a glass drug pipe. Officers seized substances believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine, police said. The man was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, according to police. The arrest was part of an ongoing crime suppression initiative led by the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Crime Suppression, Analysis and Response (CSAR) Unit. The unit focuses on targeted enforcement, crime prevention and proactive measures to address complex challenges, including those related to mental health and youth.
