Guelph Police are investigating after a Kitchener resident reported finding what appeared to be part of a knife blade inside a chocolate bar wrapper after her child went trick-or-treating. Police said the child had been collecting Halloween candy with friends in the Applewood Crescent area of Guelph on Saturday night. On Sunday, the child’s mother contacted police after finding what appeared to be the end of a construction-style knife blade in the seam of a chocolate bar wrapper while checking the candy. Police said it is not known where the child received the chocolate bar. Health Canada advises parents to check Halloween treats before allowing children to eat them. It also recommends discarding homemade treats and any commercially packaged candy with torn wrappers, small holes or loose packaging. Police have not provided further details about the investigation.
