Family Day 2026: What’s open and what’s closed for the holiday

Ontario is one of only a few provinces that recognizes Family Day, so some businesses, stores and offices may be closed, while others will not be affected or have different hours of operation.

Here’s a look at what’s open, what’s closed and what’s changed in Waterloo Region and Guelph on Monday.

Community Alzheimer Day programs, Sunnyside Seniors’ Services and the Sunnyside Wellness Centre

Warming centres at 150 Main Street in Cambridge from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 150 Frederick Street in Kitchener from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Aud – The KW Titans take on the Lebanon Leprechauns at 3 p.m.

Regional museums:

• Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum – Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Schneider Haus National Historic Site – Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Transit

Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate Monday on a holiday service schedule and MobilityPLUS will operate as usual.

Guelph Transit will operate from 9:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and stops will be on-demand, except Route 99 Mainline which runs every 30 minutes.

GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule.
