A Waterloo man is facing multiple charges in a crash that brought part of a hydro pole crashing down. The Waterloo Regional Police Service were called to the corner of Erbsville Road and Bisch Street on Wednesday around 9:45 p.m. They learned a driver blew through a stop sign, crossed two lanes of traffic, careened off the road and hit the pole. The crash caused extensive damage to the pole, which broke off. The road was closed for several hours while hydro crews worked on repairs. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Waterloo, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was charged with operation while impaired, dangerous operation and stunt driving.
